Nets Waive Keon Johnson – RealGM Wiretap

The Brooklyn Nets waived guard Keon Johnson. The Nets will have roughly $272,000 in dead money on their cap sheet, assuming Johnson clears waivers.

Johnson was with Brooklyn for a season-plus. Last year, the 6-foot-5 guard appeared in 79 games with 56 starts. Johnson averaged 10.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

The writing was on the wall for Johnson when the Nets drafted five players in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft. That group includes Egor Demin, Nolan Traore and Ben Saraf, who are all expected to have ball-handling roles as part of Brooklyn’s backcourt. The Nets also acquired Terance Mann and Kobe Bufkin in trades this offseason.
